about

su·per·no·va: Star that suddenly increases greatly in brightness because of a catastrophic explosion that ejects most of its mass.

Dear Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes, When I got the pleasure to embody you for a 90s Tribute Show in 2014, you became alive again through me. Through researching your personality, wardrobe, rap style, etc for the role, I’ve come across some of the many things that you have accomplished in your life. And you did so much. I can’t believe it took me this long to realize how much of a star you truly are. Sometimes I can’t even believe you transitioned 13 years ago on April 25, 2015. That is because your presence is felt constantly through myself and many many others. I felt like you deserved to be heard for who you are. Sincerely your fan, Jovan Landry.

Supernova was the name of Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes solo LP that was only released internationally in late 2001. Lopes left behind a legacy that was out of the box, different, true and untouchable. She is most known for contributing to the best selling girl group [in America], TLC, along Tionne 'T-Boz" Watkins and Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas. Best hits from the group are “Waterfalls," "Creep," "Ain’t Too Proud To Beg," and "No Scrubs," just to name a few. Eyenetics was the name of her music label (if I am not mistaken).

My reason for this mix were to showcase Lisa as an individual through archive interviews, solo and featured work, work she's been involved in, with a little bit of TLC. I want to express that this is not a BEST OF LEFT EYE MIX or a TLC MIX, but a collection Lisa's as an individual. I also understand that this is just a fraction of what she has accomplished. My aim is for the listener to learn more about Lisa than what was seen on the surface. Hopefully it draws you into researching about her contribution to the music industry. But to also shine line on songs that may have been overlook or unheard of by the general public and to help you get a full understand of who Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes was and still is.

I would also like to add that I do not own the music and interviews in this mix. I am not doing this for financial gain or fame, but to show the listener how much I adore Left Eye and her contribution to the music industry and for female rappers ( like me!) I just want the listener to sit back and listen and learn!

I share with you the Supernova Eyenetics Mix.

This mix is inspired by Essntl's Nothing But a Number (Aaliyah Tribute) and Azz Izz' Left Eye 2011 Megamix.
